The Rules

This is where you can show off software you made. Open Source software, Freeware, Shareware, and even hobby-scale for-sale projects are allowed. We just want to make sure that the projects are personal and relevant, so we ask you to consider the following before posting:

  1. This is for established members to discuss their hobby projects and should be relatively on-brand.
  2. The software must be created by you.
  3. You must have the legal right to post it here or to distribute it.

Programs like Attack Of The PETSCII Robots or the Planet X series are definitely on-brand. Posting a link to a registry cleaner made by a company you happen to work for is not.

If you're not sure, feel free to send a DM and ask.

And don't forget the most important rule: have fun and stay classy!

Are CX16 software projects allowed here also, or these have a different place?

Don't worry, if it's in the wrong place, we'll move it for you. We'll also helpfully let you know where we put it, and why.

This forum is a good place WIPs or "works-in-progress", regardless of platform. That includes stuff you are writing from scratch, things you are modifying (FOSS, PD, or by permission), and projects you're reverse engineering (again, same rules.) I pointed out AOTPR specifically, since that's a new game written for the X16 as well as the Commodore 64 and a bunch of other 8-bit and 16-bit platforms.

There is a "Software Support" section as well, but that's a Q&A format and probably better for asking "How do I?" or getting help with bugs.

In the new forum platform, we will be separating out "8-Bit Productions" forums from "Community" forums. You'll be able to tell the difference from the icon. This will be a "community" forum, for free discussion of anything retro - including the Commander X16 (and the MEGA 65 - both of which are new, but in the style of retro.)
