rje 199 Posted January 13 Audio Demo - Invention 13 View File I was missing Bach's "Invention 13", and so here's my first attempt. Naturally, this will need to be debugged... I think I heard a couple bad notes in there. Then, naturally, this will need some sprite graphics... the X16 butterfly in shifting colors or something. But for now, here's the first 13 bars that Commodore Business Machines used in the early 80s. Submitter rje Submitted 01/13/21 Category Demos
rje 199 Posted January 13 As mentioned above, I think there are a couple of improvements to make: (1) The waveforms. I think the bass waveform is too quiet. I can adjust volumes, or change waveform. (2) I think there's an error in the bass waveform. I'd have to listen to it nice and slow and carefully to be sure. (3) I want to convert the X16 graphic butterfly to a sprite (I know how) and use it in a graphic display to go along with the song.
rje 199 Posted January 13 Found one bug -- an F instead of F#. Might be another one in there somewhere!!
rje 199 Posted January 14 (edited) OK, I converted a 64 x 64 verison of the X16 logo, and encoded it into runlength DATA in BASIC. Gnarly! Anyway it does things. Not beautiful, but it's a start. FYI: To store it in DATA statements without runlength encoding takes around 20K. To store that as runlength DATA takes under 7K. rje 199 Posted January 14 (edited) OK, I reformatted this to look like the C64 promotional at the end of the 1983 Christmas Demo. I figured I could push some of the X16's features while playing that little ditty from Bach. And I backed off a bit on the sprites, so they're more subtle, but still there of course. Perifractic 644 Posted January 15 Very nice! But you got the date a year late. Probably

rje 199 Posted January 15 (edited) I'll give it a 50-50 chance for 2021. A lot can happen between Proto 2 and Release Candidate X: things can go super smooth (in which case I'm thinking July) or things can be rough (2022). This prediction brought to you out of near complete ignorance. Edited January 15 by rje
