Re: Lower Decks II (WIP): Warp Drive - 1-4 player!

I just want to use the VIA2 that the system already has (including the Otter16). No need to spend another $30+ on something the system can already do (granted, at only somewhere between 2400 and 9600 baud). The premium price of PR boards is fine, as long as there is software value there. Other than ...

Re: Lower Decks II (WIP): Warp Drive - 1-4 player!

I'm thinking Lower Decks #3 will be the Transporters - it'll be my excuse to exercise the user port, to "teleport" bytes from one X16 to another (trying to resist buying yet-another-ESP32, or throwing more hardware onto an already expensive kit). But I'll have to PEEK/POKE it. Annoying sin...

X16FONT On-System Editor Overview

Here is a write-up of using the X16FONTS editor program on the X16. https://voidstar.blog/commander-x16-font-editor/ It might not be a far stretch to adapt this into a sprite editor or general VRAM editor. But it has some utility functions and export features specifically designed to help end-users ...

Re: Lower Decks II (WIP): Warp Drive - 1-4 player!

But, but... The third paragraph, it says "Housed in a dilithium crystal converter assembly, the crystals were used as a power source as well as a regulator." That chamber is the "dilithium crystal converter assembly" :) (and "fuel" to me is just generic for any power so...

Lower Decks II (WIP): Warp Drive - 1-4 player!

WORK IN PROGRESS 3162 EDIT: 2024/05/12 VERSION 2 UPDATE Think have the gamepad-jittery issues resolved, added background audio (randomizes the playback rate between rounds). Added PAUSE (via pressing START) and SELECT now toggles hard-mode. Remember to pass -joy1 or -joy2 or -joy3 or -joy4 to enable...

Re: Confetti2 - created by accident

For sure! And the X16 lets us toy around with the 20x15 resolution :) But I just had a thought - on a "software RNG" (that doesn't use RTC or any clock), the random-seed and random-sequence is very predictable. Has anyone ever used that sequence to be the basis for any data to drive a demo...

Confetti2 - created by accident

Well, this wasn't intended as a "demo" - but it morphed into one after messing around with the Confetti example in the Appendix A of the X16 guide. <https://github.com/voidstar78/X16_MANUALS/blob/main/CommanderX16_IntroducingYourX16_Manual_DRAFT_REV9.pdf> Might it be the only PETSCII-demo,...

Re: Commander X16 Quick Intro FAQs for Setup

For reference, there is also an "extended intro" manual here (with some examples on the MONitor and a few BASIC examples): https://github.com/voidstar78/X16_MANUALS/blob/main/CommanderX16_IntroducingYourX16_Manual_DRAFT_REV9.pdf For a printed copy (as the author I give permission on that),...

Re: Alternative to a standard case? Consider the Carbon Fiber edition

Some notes on putting this together: Tools: Table Saw (straight cuts and 45deg angle cuts) and a Drill Press . I used masking tape to help mark the spots for the ATX holes. A few holes are sort of deep (far into the board), so a larger drill press helps. Be patient with the holes, do start with the ...
