Re: Norton Commander for x16

I found this in the Commander X16 Quick Intro FAQs for Setup by Voidstar: --------------------- While the inexpensive "under $10" SNES gamepads do work - I've found that a lot of them might only partially work on the X16. Specifically, for a great many of them, the SELECT button seems to b...

Re: Norton Commander for x16

I checked the SNES controllers with the Joytest.prg test program and both controllers have the select button closed all the time. That is what was causing the problem. I've contacted Amazon to return and get a refund on these crap controllers. Stopped off driving to work at Micro Tech this afternoon...

Re: Norton Commander for x16

Ha, Ha, very funny. I finally found some time to record on video my issue with UFM and my controllers. My X16 is running version #R47 and to correct myself in the video, I got the Super Controls from Amazon, not eBay. Can't add the MOV file to this post. Even though I zipped it, it's still 121 MBs i...

Re: Norton Commander for x16

Yes I will when I get some time. I'll try to do it tonight.

Thank you,

Re: Norton Commander for x16

I see. That makes sense as the development of software for the X16 is very organic, as in it's developed on an as needed basis. I'd like to shift gears for a moment. I've loaded and run UFM on my real X16 and it works as described. I noticed that the UFM supports an SNES style game controller in por...

Re: Norton Commander for x16

I'm new here and I didn't have much experience with Norton software. What about XTree as a model for thumbing through the X16 SD card? I really liked it's interface and I think there's a newer version available now. If this has already been considered and discarded, then I apologize for repeating it...

Re: Introducing Your Commander X16 Personal Computer (brief intro)

Thanks Voidstar, That gives me a start on trying to figure out how to do what I want. Specifically, as I've searched this site for information on AUTOBOOT.X16, A consistent suggestion I've seen is renaming the program you want to run "AUTOBOOT.X16" so it will run at the end of the boot pro...

Re: Introducing Your Commander X16 Personal Computer (brief intro)

I apologize for my rudimentary question. What kind of program file is AUTOBOOT.X16? I'm thinking you mean like the Config.sys or Autoexec.bat files from the IBM PC DOS world. Is the AUTOBOOT.X16 a text or bat file that when added to the root directory of the SD Card, will run the listed commands? Th...

Re: Introducing Your Commander X16 Personal Computer (brief intro)

Great intro to the Commander X16 personal computer. If I may suggest, I'm trying to figure out how the AUTOBOOT.X16 and the AUTOEXEC.X16 files work. I've experimented a bit with the boot file when making changes through the Menu option. But when I rebooted the X16, the x16 boot screen header disappe...

Re: How To: Create an SD Card Image

Okay, I think I figured some of this out. I apologize for taking longer than expected to update my post. Next, there are two issues. First, the full path for the DOS files directed by fsroot switch needs to be defined. Trying to append onto the emulator's directory doesn't work. It took some testing...
