Documenting Case Build, need camera

This is for products with a physical and digital component. Things like an Arduino based emulator of a 1970s mainframe, a toaster that butters your bread, or even a homebrew computer.

Documenting Case Build, need camera

Post by ahenry3068 »

I'm not much of a Video guy really. But I am thinking of documenting my Case build...
Anyone no an acceptable Digital Video Camera in the < $200.00 price range ????

I was trying to look on Amazon, but 90% of their offerings are by companies with names like SKEELNGRO and CNARTBU.

I did find a Sony used "renewed" camcorder for $189, though. The stock number is B014X23ATS.

A lot of people just use their smartphones. You can get tripod mounts with a sprint loaded clamp, to hold your smartphone on a tripod.

Got it Running Mystify. :)

I've been building my own SD card... Fortuitously my Desktop PC has a built in SD reader.

I've been running the Emulator under Linux and just using -fsroot to point it to the actual SD card
so everything I've written (plus stuff from the forum were already on the SD card.

I thought about just using my Smartphone, but I suspect for what a Tripod would cost me I could purchase a bit
more capable Camera... I think I'm going to ask Adrian or David..... They both do this much more than I ever
will. ...

Be prepared for a sticker shock. My handheld cameras cost me about $850 each, and my PTZ cameras (remote controlled pan/tilt/zoom) are $1800 each.

And those are cheap. It's easy to spend $5000 or more on a mirrorless camera and some good lenses.

if you're looking for $200 or less, I'd suggest looking on EBay for a "not quite obsolete" DSLR or something.
