Readily available is relative to supply chain issues, but that's not a quote from the interview portion of the text. I enjoyed the actual interview part. But I'm an old boring guy, too.

Right now, you can't buy certain things at any price. Even the Raspberry Pi is being made only in limited quantities, which is causing sellers to jack up their prices to 3-4x the usual price for the ones that are available.

Yup! It's sad that there's been hoarding and price gouging on the small quantities that are out there. The Pi2 I was using as a home media server is dying -- the HDMI interface is really smoked (pro-tip: don't let your electronics get struck by lightning), and now that I am looking to replace it, it's either support the scalpers (if I could even get one) or wait. Meanwhile, if I want a new phone or tablet or PC? No problem! Of course, mainstream consumer items are being prioritized, unfortunately for everyone operating outside that market.

Yeah, this "shortage" sucks, and scalpers suck worse. ?

New Pi 4's going for $180-$200 on eBay...

Used Pi 3's are all over the price spectrum...

New original Pi B+ units going for over $70...

New Zero W's going for $30 or more...

It's madness.

I am buying spares when, and if, this all passes.

That tablet will likely contain an ARM Cortex-A series CPU. Just like the Raspberry Pi. With some software tricks, you can likely put some unix thing on it.

This goes for a lot of other hardware too..
