Hid did a video about how the last storm affected him. There's lots that has been said about what happened in Texas in terms of their power grid for that event as well.

David was affected by the recent power outages in Texas, to the point where he's building his own off-grid power system. He's posted at least two videos about it now, and he is building a solar power and battery storage system in his studio. I

Texas can be harder hit by unusually cold weather because it has "its own power grid" --- that has allowed Texas electricity generators to avoid weatherization requirements that are required to sell power into other regional grids.

Well, the most recent cold weather's impact on Texas seemed to be a big nothing-burger, thankfully. Fortunately, the distance between the worst of the weather in the U.S. (based on where damage and deaths have occurred) and the Dallas/Fort Worth area where Dave lives is akin to the distance between London, England and Casablanca, Morocco. It still got cold and windy, though.

For my part, I'm just glad my house (which is in a modestly northern climate) did okay as well. I'm saddened for the folks who have been suffering in the northeast, but I'm also still a tad emotionally exhausted after all the sleep I lost, being anxious over whether I'd have to triage burst pipes, repairs, and cleanup from over 1,000 miles away since I ended up booking my outgoing plane tickets for the day before the cold hit, only to learn that my area was more-or-less in the center of the coldest stretch of weather.

Lots of folks are having a miserable holiday season this year, between the cold weather and Southwest airlines completely imploding on itself and stranding untold thousands of passengers. I'm hoping 2023 will be kinder to them.

Yeah, the freezing weather didn't get so cold that it shut down coal generators and NG pipelines, like their Big Freeze, so they just had rolling blackouts due to peak demand. From his videos, Dave is well set to handle rolling blackouts.
