Polices for Download Section

Include:
* Description
* (optional) Cover art
* Screen Shot of your program running.
* Attach your program
* Use the #R41 hashtag at the bottom of the message body.

Also, update your first post when uploading a new version. Do not append your post to the end of the thread, since these can get buried.

All programs must be compatible with the latest version of the Commander X16 OS.

---
  1. Post Your Stuff: All software published to the forum and download section must comply with Copyright law. You may post
    1. Programs you have personally created
    2. Programs you have personally created or which your team created
    3. Programs owned by other people, and which you have received permission to upload.
    4. Open source or public domain software
    5. Trivial examples or items for which Copyright has been abandoned.
  2. No Piracy: You may not post pirated software: ie software you did not create and for which you do not have a distribution agreement.
  3. Keep It Clean: No pornography, profanity, anti-religious content, or racist content. (See below for more)
  4. Keep It Safe: No malicious software, viruses, etc.
  5. Keep It Relevant: All files posted to the Download section must be
    • Working
    • Release Ready
    • Quality works
    Do not post trivial examples, works in progress, beta tests, or low-quality content to the Downloads section. Feel free to use the provided Programming WIP forum for things not release-ready.
  6. Keep It Current: All downloads must work with the latest version of the hardware and emulator. We'll allow some time for people to upgrade their files for breaking changes to the Commander, but we can't allow uploads for outdated versions of the system. Likewise, stale downloads (ones that no longer work and haven't been updated) will be removed, at the managements' discretion.
  7. Patches: Another user may choose to patch or fix a stale download: that is the one exception to the "only upload your own work" rule. Patches must be uploaded to the same thread as the original, and the uploader should flag the original post with a note to update the original with the patch. By uploading a program to this site, you agree to allow it to be patched in the future, for the specific purpose of ensuring compatibility with future versions of the Commander X16. No other patches, remixes, or collections are allowed.
  8. If In Doubt, Flag: For programs that don't work, have malicious or offensive content, or which otherwise should be removed, flag the post to bring the thread to the moderators' attention. We will take appropriate action, as needed.
  9. Keep It In the Family: We only permit programs written for the Commander X16 or development tools which directly target the Commander X16.
Finally, by uploading a program here, you agree to the following:
  • You grant the Commander X16 Community and 8-Bit Productions the right to distribute the uploaded content worldwide, and without restriction. ie: people come here from all over the world, and you agree to let them download your uploaded files.
  • Your posted programs, comments, artwork, music, or other content may be used in marketing materials for the Commander X16, this community, or 8-Bit Productions content. ie: David may use your game as an example of what people can do with this computer.
  • Any member of this community may post excerpts of uploaded content for commentary, review, or entertainment use on their social media channels. This includes any video that shows gameplay, regardless of length.
  • Aside from these granted permissions, you retain the full Copyright to your work.
For people downloading from this site: by downloading a program or other content from this site, you agree to use it in good faith and fully comply with Copyright law. You may copy downloads for personal use or even give them to friends. You are not permitted to upload these files to other web sites, sell them, or in any way use them as part of your content, except as permitted above.
